I stood up for him, not because being gay is a bad thing but because however he wants to define himself is his business and no one elses and he identified as straight at the time.

I absolutely HATE people trying to define others sexuality. How hurtful can you be? Especially in highschool. Everyone is already insecure, trying to figure out who we are, what we believe in, what we are ALLOWED to be and believe in and still have any friends at all...

It's an isolating difficult time for most human beings. Personally I think every one is at least SLIGHTLY bi. I know many hetero and gay people who disagree with me, but yet everyone I know has "experimented" at least a little with the sex that is not their chosen sex.

I had another friend in highschool who identified as gay but I was getting the feeling that he was not gay (meaning that he was slightly interested in me). Being incredibly insecure and feeling as unlikable as I did in highschool anyway I thought, no way, self, he says he gay.

Well years later he came over to my house and I suddenly discovered that "snuggling and watching movies with the gay friend" was not so very platonic at all... and then he tells me he's gotten a girl pregnant!

Woah!

I don't know, figuring out our own sexualities is confusing enough WITHOUT judgments about which orientation is better or accusations that there are certain traits that make some people straight and some people gay.

Why not people be whoever they want to be, and date whoever they want to date, and we all accept that whoever they want to date is just fine even if they seem "straight" but are dating same sex, or seem "gay" but are dating opposite sex.

Defining others sexuality for them, based on traits and personality and appearance and speech is SUCH A HORRENDOUS THING to do to someone else.

Half the time I just want to say I'm bi because I want to be free to date whoever the hell I want and to not be defined as anything. This would be misleading on dating sites however... the ladies aren't going to get much more than a drunken kiss... (and since I don't drink anymore that leaves about nothing... lol).

The whole trying to define others sexuality for them is based on the idea that "gayness" is some sort of biological condition. While there could be some biology involved in preference... people should be able to date whoever they want regardless of some "biological definition of who they should date."

Hmmmph. End rant.

The accusation that 50 cent is gay, I don't think the guy who said it was really thinking about how much that could affect someone else. Rufus was really just saying, "Like omg I wish he was gay, can't I just pretend he's gay... ok! He's gay! YAY my imagination is awesome!"

LOL that's what I heard. It's not necessarily Rufus fault that his words got used out of context, but I do think that someone who is confused about their sexuality would have a really hard time with everyone in the world trying to define it for you.

If someone tells me they are gay I respect they are gay and don't tell them, "Nuh-uh... I think you messed up, you're not really!" If someone tells me they are straight, they're straight. End of discussion. If they choose to change who they want to date... they can always change it! It's just about people being happy with who they are dating.

Ok NOW it end rant... lolSustainableFamilieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08820607553556177222noreply@blogger.com
