Totally. I was...I completely agree with you, Kyler. Totally. I was talking with a friend recently about this and about the relationship between what Hollywood does and what it pretends to be concerned about. It pretends to be concerned about "violence" if that violence may result in profit-loss. That's about the extent of Hollywood and corporate media's concern for people victimised by institutional and interpersonal violence.

The gross reality of system-rulers being only concerned for themselves is evidenced when "the news" reports often about how much "the economy is hurting" but not at all how poor/working people are hurting. I try and link regularly to the "Censored News" blog for more accurate information about what some groups of marginalised people are experiencing in North America.

I haven't seen Dark Knight Rises, but if it hasn't yet been done, someone ought to do a thorough analysis of all the many forms of violence the film promotes, including by sexualising and racialising that violence.Julian Realhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02933612851144914687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6744114065733119575.post-9650713054875480172012-07-30T20:30:52.703-04:002012-07-30T20:30:52.703-04:00Well, I tend not to focus on domesticated violence...Well, I tend not to focus on domesticated violence, because there is just so much violence commited by institutions at an extremely large and daily rate.

But I'd just like to mention that the corporate media and politicians were so quick to assure that the violence of films and especially the white-het-male-capitalist violence of "The Dark Knight Rises" had absolutely nothing to do with the massacre.

And it goes into everything you say about the institutionalized global system of white male patriarchy that influences domestic violence commited by white males.

The media and entertainment industry are saturated with racism and misogyny, and the Dark Knight is a great example of male ultra-violence.

This entire story is just a perfect example of how those in power will always defend corporate interests, being the boxoffice success of "The Dark knight Rises" first,, before anything else.Kyler J.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14675525009390576822noreply@blogger.com
