Thank you for stating th...Such a great point, AST.

Thank you for stating that.

It is so clear that the the behaviors which follow the imperatives and unquestioningly accept the givens in the maintenance--by men--of male heterosexist/racist/misogynist sexuality is to not view women as people who are as real, as human, as are men. (And so often women are not viewed and treated as women at all, but, as Jennifer Drew so accurately states, "Sexual Service Stations" for men.

Men have needs: so women must... why must women do ANYTHING in response to men's cultivated coercive sexuality? Why is it a given women will be accessible, and how can those means of access be denied men--by men holding men accountable?

And as you say: men want sex with people who do not desire sex with them, and men call that "harmless" and perfectly acceptable ways to "have sex". Hmmm. Selfish and self-serving much?Julian Realhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02933612851144914687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6744114065733119575.post-85633147111237408382010-02-27T22:06:22.729-05:002010-02-27T22:06:22.729-05:00The willingness of so many clients to pay for sex ...The willingness of so many clients to pay for sex without bothering to find out whether or not the woman has been coerced is significant for another reason, however, because it exposes the pernicious assumptions at the heart of prostitution. One is the rarely challenged claim that there is something peculiar to male sexuality which makes men entitled to sexual release whenever they want it; another is that women are a class from which men should expect to get sex, regardless of the damage they inflict on individuals.

It also exposes the assumption that men care not one bit about whether the people with whom they are having sex want to have sex with them. That is the way men's sexuality has been formed. The interest and desire of their partners are not prerequisites. Feigned interest is good customer service, but actual interest is irrelevant. Why is that fact so readily ignored?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
